Abstract

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that is widespread throughout the world. The infection is characterized by fever, malaise, cough, rhinitis and conjunctivitis, followed by rash. About 90% of susceptible individuals will develop measles after exposure to an infectious agent. The infectious period of the disease is considered to be from 5 days before the appearance of the rash to 4 days after the appearance of the rash. In public places, even if there is no person-to-person contact, the disease can be transmitted.
